CNNC Xinyuan 1 GW Wind Power Source-Grid-Load-Storage Integration Project – EPC General Contracting Section IV
The project is located on Jiawuer Mountain in Xinyuan County, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, approximately 95 km by road from Xinyuan County. With a total installed capacity of 1 GW, it is currently the largest power project in the prefecture and the first integrated source-grid-load-storage project launched by CNNC Rich Energy in Xinjiang.

Located in the northwestern region of China, Ili experiences extremely low winter temperatures and significant day-night temperature variations. At the project site, temperatures dropped to -30°C, accompanied by several days of heavy snowfall, posing major challenges to construction and personnel.
To achieve the goal of lifting the first wind turbine, the project team worked through the night to clear snow and prepare the site. Their efforts enabled the tower sections to be positioned as planned, followed by the precise alignment of the rotor and nacelle, successfully completing the turbine lifting operation despite the severe winter conditions.

The project will have a positive and far-reaching impact on Xinyuan County by optimizing its industrial structure, promoting industrial upgrading, and expanding the local economy. It will also support the development of clean energy and emerging technology industry clusters across the Ili River Valley, helping create new growth drivers and an economic engine for the region’s development.
